# Models and slash commands

Choose the conversation model from the composer. The available list comes from the workspace's model catalogue. A model can vary in response quality, speed, and resource use; check the task's result whichever model you choose.

## Conversation model and app model

The model in the Assistant composer controls that conversation. **Settings → AI Assistant** selects the default model a new app starts with. An app can have its own model policy. Changing one does not silently replace all the others.

If a saved model is no longer offered, Strive can show its identifier until you choose a replacement. A model catalogue error has a Retry action; it is different from a model refusing a particular request.

## Commands

Type `/` at the beginning of a message to open the command list. Use arrow keys and Enter to choose.

| Command | Purpose | Available in page panel |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `/new` | Start a new conversation | Use the panel's new-conversation control |
| `/apps` | Inspect apps and their current state | No |
| `/workflows` | Inspect workflows, runs, and failures | No |
| `/connections` | Inspect connection access and attention items | No |
| `/data` | Inspect sources and recent records | No |
| `/status` | Show what needs attention | Yes, for the current page |
| `/skills` | Find reusable Assistant skills | No |
| `/model` | Change the conversation model | Yes |
| `/undo` | Undo the last eligible change | Yes |
| `/help` | Explain what the Assistant can do here | Yes |

Commands start a task or show information. A later change in that task still follows the conversation's approval rules. Use plain language if the task needs more detail than a command supplies.
