# Use Assistant skills

Skills give the Assistant a repeatable approach to a task. Use `/skills` or ask which skill fits your goal. A skill can organise several reads, proposals, and checks; it does not change your role or bypass approval requirements.

## Built-in task playbooks

| Task | What the playbook covers |
| --- | --- |
| Build an app from a template | Choose the template, fill parameters, connect services, create, and deploy |
| Author an app | Choose components, validate changes, and inspect or restore versions |
| Author a workflow | Choose handlers and connections, validate, test, create, and run |
| Debug a failed run | Inspect the failed step, configuration, connection, budget, and recent versions |
| Connect a data source | Choose a connector, create access, complete sign-in, and test |
| Use connection tools | Inspect a service's tools and the effects of a call |
| Clean up connection data | Inspect the target and remove selected files, vectors, or table data |
| Export or import an app | Validate the package, review the destination plan, and follow the import |
| Publish an app for reuse | Save a template, publish its version, and export a package |
| Share an app | Choose recipients or public access and understand revocation |
| Upgrade apps | Preview engine changes, upgrade individually, and verify behaviour |
| Restore something | Inspect Trash or saved versions and explain what cannot return |
| Manage memory | Read, add, correct, or forget your remembered facts |
| Triage notifications | Inspect attention items, act, and clear what is no longer useful |

## Ask for the outcome

“Use the failed-run playbook on the latest invoice ingest” provides a target and a clear goal. The Assistant can ask for missing information and propose writes. Inspect each proposal before approving it.

## Custom skills

Organisations can maintain custom skills with a name, description, category, instructions, and enabled state. See [custom skills](/docs/administration/custom-skills) for their lifecycle. Custom skill text is task guidance; it cannot grant access to data or make a human-only decision automatic.
