# Storage providers and access

The browser shows storage connections visible in your current context. Supported providers include Platform Store, S3-compatible storage, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox. Visibility of a connection and permission to act on a particular provider item are separate checks.

## Managed and external storage

Platform Store is managed by Strive and holds App files and snapshots. S3 connections point to configured object storage. Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox use the connected account's provider access. Their folder structure, native document formats, and permission rules can differ.

Cloud storage connections require completed OAuth consent. Choose the correct provider account during authorization and review its requested file access. If consent is incomplete, expired, or withdrawn, [reconnect the connection](/docs/connections/credentials-and-reconnect) before retrying a failed operation.

The browser cannot grant access to a file that the provider account cannot read. A hidden or missing file may belong to a different account, shared drive, folder, or permission scope. Test the connection and check provider-side access before assuming the file was deleted.

## App-specific choices

An App can limit the browser to selected connections and allowed actions. A connection that is available in Connections may therefore be absent from a particular App's Storage browser. Similarly, read-only browsing does not imply that upload, delete, copy, or move is enabled there.

Connection setup stays in Connections; it is not duplicated in each App. When a transfer or import is finalized, Strive checks the current App and connection policy again. If ownership, the permitted connection selection, or the App's lifecycle changed during the operation, the final action can be refused.

See [imports](/docs/storage/import-into-apps) for the distinction between using provider permissions to capture a file and controlling the resulting App copy.
