Choose the default app model
Set the model a new app starts with and distinguish it from conversation models.
Settings → AI Assistant provides the default model preference used when a new app starts. Choose from the models offered by the workspace catalogue.
Change the preference
Open Settings, find AI Assistant, and choose the model. Wait for the change to save. When creating a new app, inspect its model choice and processing requirements rather than assuming all models offer identical capabilities.
An app needing image input must use a model route that supports it. Structured extraction can also have its own allowed-model policy and resource limits.
Three different choices
The Assistant composer's model controls a conversation. This preference controls a new app's starting choice. A particular app or workflow step can have its own saved model policy. Updating the default does not silently rewrite existing workflows or change all active conversations.
Missing or unavailable models
If a saved model is no longer offered, its identifier can remain visible until you choose another. Strive does not silently substitute a new model for the saved preference. If the model catalogue cannot load, use Retry; the rest of the workspace can remain usable.
If generation fails after selecting an available model, inspect the workflow's error and budget. A catalogue entry confirms that a route is offered; it does not guarantee that an individual request is within its limits or that an answer is correct.
