Create from a template
Adapt a prepared workflow to your own sources, settings, and destinations.
Templates provide a prepared workflow with a known structure and a focused configuration form. They are useful when the overall process is familiar but the source connection, document set, model, or destination differs.
A template creates a workflow you can inspect and manage. It is not a successful execution, and choosing a template does not establish that your source data or credentials are ready.
Instantiate a template
- Open the new-workflow experience and browse the available templates.
- Choose a template whose purpose matches your intended outcome.
- Review its description and required inputs.
- Enter a workflow name and complete the template's configuration fields.
- Select the source and destination connections requested by the template.
- Create the workflow and open its saved definition.
- Validate the result and run it with a small representative input.
The available templates depend on your workspace and its installed capabilities. A template that refers to an unavailable extension or incompatible handler cannot become a usable workflow until its requirements are satisfied.
Review what the template supplied
Inspect the complete graph, not just the instantiation form. Check triggers, filters, prompts, output types, persistence, and external writes. Confirm whether the generated workflow reads a selected set of documents or a broader source. Check inherited app settings when the workflow belongs to an app.
Change the name to describe your actual process rather than leaving a generic template title. Keep recognizable step IDs where possible so troubleshooting stays easy.
Reuse and updates
A template is a starting point. A separately created workflow should not be assumed to receive every future template change. If you need an explicitly versioned shared process with controlled upgrades, use reusable recipes.
If creation fails, check the required fields, connection permissions, and dependency availability. Avoid repeatedly submitting the form without checking whether the first request created a workflow. Search the list for the chosen name before trying again.
For an existing process you want to adapt independently, duplicate the workflow.
