Navigate folders and search files
Use provider headers, breadcrumbs, paging, and filename search without overlooking results.
Expand a provider header to browse its files and folders. Open folders to descend and use breadcrumbs to return to an ancestor. Each provider keeps its own context; selecting a similarly named folder under another provider does not make it the same location.
Search and paging
Storage search finds filenames. It should not be confused with searching the extracted text of every document. If you need content retrieval, use the relevant App or workflow search experience.
Results are paginated. Load the next page while a continuation is available, especially in large object stores. S3 filename searches can return an empty page with a continuation while the scan is still incomplete. An empty intermediate page is not a final “no matches” result. Continue until the scan has finished before concluding that a file is absent.
Folder navigation and search can change the visible selection context. Before copying, moving, deleting, or importing, check the selected items and destination rather than relying on the text in the search box alone.
Troubleshoot missing items
- Confirm the provider and account.
- Return to the expected parent folder or storage root.
- Clear the filename search.
- Load any remaining pages or continue the scan.
- Check provider-side permissions and the connection's authorization status.
Provider metadata may include a modification time. Use it as a clue about the visible object, not as a guarantee that a previously captured App document has updated. A snapshot's content is fixed at import or capture time.
If a folder is empty, it may genuinely have no visible children. Object stores also represent folders differently from cloud drives, so copying or deleting their apparent folder entries has provider-specific behavior.
