Make an app public
Open the permanent app address to anonymous visitors and close it when needed.
Public app makes the app available at its permanent named address without signing in. Unlike a Share link, there is no separate unlisted token that recipients must possess. Anyone who knows or finds the app address can open it.
Make the app public
- Review what the app displays and which data sources feed it.
- Open Settings → Sharing.
- Enable Public app.
- Read the confirmation describing anonymous internet access, then choose Make public.
- Copy the App address and verify it in a separate signed-out session.
The switch reports the saved state. Opening the confirmation alone does not make the app public; Cancel keeps the existing access state.
Close public access
Turn Public app off. This is a collective revocation of named-address public access. There is no per-visitor public grant to remove and no token to rotate for this mode.
If a visitor can still open the app, review the independent Share link, Team access, and tenant-sharing settings. Disabling Public app does not disable those modes. To remove an unlisted link, revoke it separately.
Understand the boundary
Public visitors use the app experience you expose. They do not become owners, gain the Parameters form, or acquire authority to manage lifecycle, edit the app definition, or change sharing. Owner review creation, edits, evidence capture, and decisions remain restricted.
Public access is not a per-person workspace or a data sandbox. Do not assume every visitor receives a private copy of the app's records. Design the interface and data scope for the audience before enabling the setting.
Moving an app to Trash stops public access while retaining the setting for possible restoration. Restoring the app reactivates its previous sharing configuration, so inspect public access before starting it again. Information already viewed or downloaded cannot be retrieved by turning the setting off.
For an unlisted address that can be replaced, use Share links. For authenticated organizations, use Tenant sharing.
