Choose a connector

Match a service to the records, storage, search, or tools you need.

The connector catalog is the starting point for a new connection. Search by service name or connector name, and use authentication and capability filters together to narrow the choices. Clear the filters if the combination produces no results. Managed entries appear prominently, and an already connected entry can take you to the existing connection.

Understand the surfaces

SurfaceWhat you use it for
RecordsRead structured items into workflows or inspect source records.
FilesInspect stored objects and their content.
StorageNavigate folders and perform supported file operations or snapshot imports.
VectorsInspect stored vectors and their associated information.
SearchQuery a search provider.
ToolsLet the Assistant or a workflow use provider-specific operations.

A connector may expose more than one surface. A provider's presence in the catalog does not mean every action offered by that provider is supported. Open its individual connector guide for its advertised capabilities and authentication requirements.

Avoid choosing by name alone

A database records connector and a database tools connector can connect to similar systems while supporting different tasks. Likewise, a managed search connection and a managed vector store solve different problems: search queries a search provider, while vectors support similarity-based retrieval over indexed information.

Decide whether the task is to browse original files, bring records into Data, retrieve relevant content, or perform an external action. Then choose the connector whose capabilities match that task. If you need two different surfaces and one entry does not provide both, use separate connections and name them clearly.

Continue with managed connections, credentials and authorization, or storage.
