Save an app as a template

Capture a reusable layout and optional workflows while removing sensitive bindings.

Save as template turns an editable app into a reusable starter for your team. It captures configuration, not a live-data clone. Each app created from the template is a new instance with its own supplied parameters and provisioned resources.

Capture a template

  1. Open the app workspace and choose Save as template.
  2. Enter Template name, a tenant-unique Slug, and an optional description.
  3. Decide whether to Include the workflows behind this app.
  4. Choose Save template.
  5. Read the result before choosing Done.

The slug uses lowercase letters, digits, and dashes and starts with a letter or digit. Choose a reusable description that tells teammates what the template does and what setup they should expect.

Include workflows or layout only

With workflows included, Strive captures the recipes supporting the app. With that option off, it captures the definition only and turns workflow references into parameters the person creating an app must supply. Layout-only capture is useful when teams want the same experience connected to their own workflows.

An older static-image app without a stored definition cannot be captured as a definition-based template. The action is offered for apps whose design can be represented as a reusable definition.

Read required-input disclosures

Credentials, token-bearing URLs, and connections that cannot be proven safe to reuse do not become reusable template defaults. Where safe, capture replaces them with required parameters and shows each required input and reason in the result.

If the result says This template is not self-contained, the future installer must provide the listed values. Do not close the dialog without reviewing them. If nothing needed redaction, the result says so; that does not imply the template carries live data or credentials.

Some workflow configuration cannot be safely captured and causes capture to fail. Correct the source configuration instead of putting secrets into descriptions or ordinary text parameters.

Use the result

The template appears in New App → My templates, where teammates can create new apps from it. Test a new instance using different permitted connections and empty starting data to verify the starter's requirements are clear.
