Prepare a table after document upload
Connect ingestion to an initial reviewable table draft without overwriting existing tables.
The After document upload policy can prepare an initial table draft when an app receives and processes its first eligible documents. It connects document ingestion to review, so the first useful extraction does not require users to assemble the steps manually.
Prerequisites
Create a workflow-record ingestion source that indexes uploaded documents, and a triggerable workflow-record source that generates table drafts. The draft source must have Allow run trigger enabled. Use a compatible engine and the app's appropriate document, table-list, and review components.
Configure
- In the builder, open the policy editor under After document upload.
- Enable Prepare an initial table for review.
- Choose Ingestion source.
- Choose Draft source from triggerable workflow-record sources.
- Set Initial table name, using 1–100 characters.
- Resolve diagnostics, then Save.
The policy requires both valid source references. If there is no eligible ingestion or triggerable draft source, add them first; an app-output source cannot fill either workflow role.
What users experience
The first completed eligible batch prepares a draft for review. The process records its durable admission and result, so leaving the browser open is not required for draft creation. Returning to the app can recover the pending review rather than creating a new draft just because the upload response was missed.
Existing tables are kept for explicit review. The initial policy is not a repeated overwrite rule for every upload. A completed or canceled initial draft does not restart itself on every page reload.
Status messages distinguish waiting for uploaded documents, preparing documents, loading the initial review, and preparation failure. Failed or ineligible-file outcomes ask the user to inspect uploaded documents and processing status. If a failed draft is available, open it to inspect the reason rather than assuming no draft exists.
Review is separate from ingestion
Document upload acceptance is not proof of completed indexing, and a prepared draft is not automatically an approved table. Users must inspect the proposed fields, rows, and source evidence before applying the review's result.
