Manage what the Assistant remembers

Inspect, add, correct, and forget personal facts used across conversations.

Memory holds facts about you that can help future conversations. It is separate from a conversation transcript and separate from app data.

Inspect and change a fact

Ask “What do you remember about me?” or use the memory surface. Review the stored facts and categories. Ask the Assistant to remember a preference, correct an inaccurate fact, or forget a particular item.

Use specific wording: “Remember that I prefer dates shown as day, month, year” is clearer than an unrelated paragraph containing several preferences. A memory is a fact to consider, not permission for future destructive actions.

Deleting and undoing

Forgetting removes the selected memory. A supported Undo can remember it again, but it may be a newly created item. Editing is checked against the current stored fact so a stale proposal does not overwrite newer changes.

Deleting a conversation does not necessarily forget a fact saved as memory. Forget the fact explicitly when that is your intention. Likewise, forgetting a memory does not erase old transcript messages that mention it.

Keep memory appropriate

Store useful preferences and working context rather than passwords, access tokens, or document contents. Use the credential flow for service access and app storage for records. Memory does not give the Assistant access to a resource it otherwise cannot read.

If the Assistant uses an outdated assumption, inspect the remembered fact, correct it, and restate the current requirement in the conversation.
